REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Ariana Balda 4/07/2023 12:01 PMI think a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens can implicate things such as a decrease in physical activity, social isolation, shallow relationships, etc. I go on a walk with my dog everyday to make sure I get out of the house at least once a day. It allows me to get some vitamin D and fresh air, partake in some light physical activity, and even practice some mindfulness. Sometimes the simplest of things can really make a difference! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityHow have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?
Ariana Balda 4/07/2023 5:18 AMI noticed that most of my spending is towards ordering food all the time. To reduce this, I made a quick grocery store trip to allow me to eat more foods from home rather then spending $10-$20 on a meal. Right now, I'm tempted for some Dunkin' Donuts breakfast, but instead I will be making eggs, sausage, a bagel, and coffee from home! Not only does it reduce my spending, but it betters my eating habits too. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Ariana Balda 4/07/2023 5:04 AMPracticing work-life balance creates a more sustainable life for me by reducing stress and burnout, improving overall well-being, and allowing me to focus on personal goals and interests outside of work. Practicing work-life balance can also contribute to sustainability more broadly by reducing the impact of overworking and burnout on an organization. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Ariana Balda 4/06/2023 11:10 AMI practiced mindfulness by going for a stroll around my neighborhood and it was very calming and refreshing. It feels great to give my mind/body a break from being inside all day. I love to be outside!-
