Happy Earth Day! We signed up with Adopt-one-block (https://www.adoptoneblock.org/) and picked a block in our neighborhood. We'll try to talk a plalk (pick-up litter walk) once/week.

My daughter found a metal toy horse in the gutter. She was stoked. :)

What was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?

I've been doing this for years, but made more just today. Soap and water are strong enough to get dishes so clean you can eat of them. I've never understood why we need something different for toilets, sinks, etc. Works great for glass too instead of Windex. I mix a little soap and water in a spray bottle and use it for just about everything.

What was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?

My name is Maria Brune, and I have learned to sew. I enjoy fixing things for my family.
Some tips I have for sewing are:
-Use a whip stich when sewing by hand. It creates a nice seam
-When tying your thread off, tie two knots on top of each other, or the thread might get pulled out
Sewing if pretty easy. you need a sharp pair of scissor, a few different colors of thread, different types of needles, and pins. It is also useful to have buttons and a disappearing ink pen.
This is a picture of my sewing kit:

Carrying my trash was helpful to make me think before consuming something. I am going to try to keep collecting and carrying my trash during this month and and going to ask my family to try this too.

Joining today to bring my family on the journey with me. Change can happen. Start by visualizing where you want to go, then take the first step in that direction. After many steps, you might surprise yourself with how far you came.
