WSP - Emerge Program
Spend 15 minutes learning about the Emerge Program at WSP. Emerge is WSP's strategic alliance program that seeks early-stage companies with novel solutions as strategic partners. Partners get access to in-house subject matter experts, an opportunity to pilot their products/technologies with WSP during the evaluation phase and have access to our client base. Emerge propels our partners by accelerating the product/technology adoption. Having recently launched our 4th cohort, Emerge has accelerated a number of companies whose mission aligns with UN SDGs. • Olokun Minerals • ecoSPEARS • PLAEX Building Systems

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
-
Madeline Bruno 4/30/2023 5:21 PMI learned a lot and it was actually relatively successful -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsDo you think YellowTin will be useful?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Madeline Bruno 4/27/2023 8:23 AMI was surprised that kale was on the pesticide list as I find it to be one of the easiest things to grow in terms of pests (must be a small scale vs large scale thing)-
Lauren Tierney 4/28/2023 5:36 AMI agree! though I tend to get a fair amount of sluggies in my garden. I read a tip recently that you can crush up egg shells and sprinkle them on top of the soil around your kale as a nature defense against pests!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Madeline Bruno 4/27/2023 8:20 AMYou lose appreciation for where you reside and are less likely to interact with other humans in a meaningful way -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place? Was there a new place in your region that was exciting to learn about and visit?

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityHow have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?
Madeline Bruno 4/27/2023 8:18 AMmade the conscious choice to pack lunch always so that I am eating less to go food that is often larger than the amount I would eat, usually has meat in it, plastic spoons, etc -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Madeline Bruno 4/27/2023 8:17 AMwhen I am burned out I feel like my level of care for things other than work goes down, so I do not have brain space to think about things like sustanability -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat most interested or surprised you about your energy audit?
Madeline Bruno 4/26/2023 1:32 PMWe have a few drop ceilings that I wanted to remove because they are ugly but it made me realize that they provide some benefits in insulation-
Lauren Tierney 4/27/2023 5:34 AMoh interesting, is it because you're heating a smaller space and then have that drop space as an insulation buffer?
