I watched a documentary called Hummingbirds that was narrated by the voice of mother nature, David Attenborough. This documentary focused on the vital role that hummingbirds play as pollinators. I learned that there are over 8,000 plant species that depend on them.

Watched a good documentary called, Farmland that focused on six young farmers and what they go through to produce our food. I liked this one because they featured GMO and Organic farmers, so I heard from both sides of the industry about their differences and shared challenges.

I'll have to check this one out! Having grown up on a farm, it's interesting to hear the farmers' point of view on food production. We weren't GMO/Organic (that wasn't as common in the 70s and 80s where we lived), so that point of view will be interesting to hear.

Here is the poem that I wrote for the earth:

    Mother Earth
A beautiful blue pearl strung out in space
Created to sustain the whole human race
You give yourself freely to all inhabitants
The gifts you give are so extravagant
Versatile are the minerals, plants and animals that you provide
Even under the harshest conditions an abundance of life you hide
We ravage and plunder you without a second thought
Yet you still provide for and protect us because you're the only home we've got
Please forgive us for our arrogant and hurtful ways
Your kind and so you surround us with reminders if we are present each day
Spending time on your surface heals the soul
Stopping to acknowledge your gifts the spirit you console
