Health & Equity
Spend Time Outside
SDG 3
I will replace 30 minute(s) per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Climate & Ecosystems

Studies show a grass lawn is water intensive and on average it require about 30 percent of a household’s water consumption. I will do one or more of the following actions in my yard or community to conserve water and improve habitat: plant indigenous plants, landscape with water-efficient plants, add mulching, replace a lawn, and/or use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Climate & Ecosystems

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Diana Ciliberto 4/20/2023 7:42 AMIt was very calming to practice mindfulness and live in the moment. Silencing distractions like electronics especially my phone helped me to reset and destress. -
Diana Ciliberto 4/19/2023 6:49 AMWe had a bunch of unripe baby peaches fall from our tree so instead of composting them, I poached them and added cinnamon, vanilla, honey and nutmeg for an amazing dessert! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?
Diana Ciliberto 4/04/2023 5:54 AMMany fruits are on the dirt list which caught me off guard. I will keep these lists with me and in mind when shopping, I will also try to go to a local farmers market where more organic, farm to table options are available. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was the most interesting thing you learned from analyzing your utility bill? What are some ways you can save energy and water?
Diana Ciliberto 4/03/2023 6:20 AMWith the rising temperatures especially here in FL in the summer, some of the ways I can reduce the time I run my AC which will save energy is to finish the switch to impact windows and add insulation to my attic. We have also switched from using hot water to cold water when washing clothes which has made an impact as well as making sure we only do full loads of laundry. Doing full loads means less loads to save water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Diana Ciliberto 4/03/2023 6:15 AMI feel that a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens misses out on life. Those folks miss out on nature and real human interactions. Nature can be grounding and an amazing stress reliever, from listening to the wind in the trees, the feel of the sun on your face or the smell of the ocean. Spending time in nature especially with others is one of the best things you can do for yourself!
