Using the links provided below, I will research impact investing or my current investment portfolio to determine if they align with my values.
Action Track: Community
Plant Trees
Trees capture carbon and produce oxygen that is essential to life on earth. I will support this important piece of nature by organizing or joining a community group to plant 1 native trees in my community, public parks, office location, campus or backyard.
Action Track: Community

Freshwater + Oceans
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Action Track: Community
Borrow Before I Buy
Why buy something I will only use once or a few times if someone nearby has it for me to borrow, and why not share something I have that someone may only need a few times a year? To reduce my consumption and waste, I will create or support the sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Land + Forests
Zero Waste Day
The impacts of our waste are far reaching. I will create zero waste for an entire day and share my reflections and learnings on the feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?
Jennifer Dudgeon 4/27/2023 10:45 AMWhenever I have an opportunity to work with children it is memorable. They are fun, inquisitive, and full of wonderful ideas. I always walk away from those experiences with a renewed purpose. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon footprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Jennifer Dudgeon 4/27/2023 8:57 AMMy GHG footprint has decreased over the years as I've
1. installed solar panels
2. have a contract with my electricity company to get 100% of the electricity I consume from the grid be from renewables
3. Increased the insulation in my home
4. Installed new windows
4. Offset winter heating needs with a wood stove (I know that burning wood releases GHGs, but only the CH4 and N2O are included in inventories, not the CO2).
But there is ALWAYS room for improvement. One way is to make fewer trips with my car., which I will endeavor to do going forward. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat most interested or surprised you about your energy audit?
Jennifer Dudgeon 4/27/2023 8:53 AMI did an energy audit a few years back and noticed that we are using more and more as the years pass. It would be easy to say the increase in usage is due to the fact that our kids are now teenagers and they are charging their phones, using their computers and leaving the lights on (long after my husband and I go to bed). But i think saying that would be unfair. I'm going to start looking to see how I, myself can reduce my own energy consumption. And of course, remind them to turn off the lights!-
Ron Beck 4/28/2023 4:35 AMYes it's interesting. All items we buy seem to involve more and more power use. I started getting serious about understanding detailed options to reduce in my home, after I installed the solar panels and therefore had a handy portal to show me my energy use hour by hour, which is when I switched out all my indoor lights to high efficiency and turned off my extra refrigerator ... -

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the dish you made, and how did it turn out? What did it feel like to try a new recipe? If you can share a picture, please do!
Jennifer Dudgeon 4/26/2023 12:55 PMI cut meat out of my diet a few years ago so am always looking for new vegetarian meals. I recently tried this one https://www.badmanners.com/recipes/black-bean-croquettes (pardon the language - but their recipes are very good!) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Jennifer Dudgeon 4/26/2023 12:46 PMWe have a Native Plant Trust near my house that only sells native species. I go there every spring to enhance my yard, finding those plants that both fit my micro-climate and provide host opportunities to beneficial birds and insects. This year I picked up some native plum trees and a few flowers that are native powerhouses. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow and attract the wildlife.-
Jennifer Dudgeon 4/27/2023 5:41 AMGood question, Ron. I picked up some Joe Pye Weed, New England Aster, and something else which I forgot the name of :) -
