Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?

They are much simpler than I would have thought, which is surprising.

Eco-challenge is going well so far this week. Planning to cook a no waste meal one day this week!

    Ben Egenrieder 4/13/2023 5:03 AM
Challenge is going well (very challenging trying to complete all daily activities) and I am learning a lot about my habits and how they impact the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What is one way you will reduce your carbon footprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?

    Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/12/2023 8:14 AM
I will work on buying local produce to help cut down on emissions that my food creates when I buy from large stores with shipped in products. I currently try to reduce my driving by working remotely when possible as well as car pooling with family/friends.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

    Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/11/2023 10:15 AM
My fiancé and I are planting pollinator friendly plants in our garden this spring.

  • Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/05/2023 5:52 AM
It is going well, but I find it can be hard to find enough time in the day to focus on all of my tasks.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?

    Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/05/2023 5:50 AM
The most memorable volunteer experience I had in my community was helping with an annual gardening/planting day. It was memorable because of the people involved and the end product!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/05/2023 5:48 AM
I would assume some implications are worse health, shorter life span, potential development of social disorders, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What was your experience like plogging, or engaging in another way to collect litter while being outside? Was there any item you collected that was unusual that you found?

    Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/05/2023 5:45 AM
My experience has been good and makes me feel like I am doing a good thing for the environment. I see lots of paper and thin plastic products that blow around outside.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Ben Egenrieder's avatar
    Ben Egenrieder 4/05/2023 5:44 AM
I have always had limited access to transportation outside of a car or bike because of where I have lived. Due to this I have decided to just try and drive less overall, by making more meaningful trips when I have to and staying home when I do not.
