Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood
How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Mya Freeman's avatar
    Mya Freeman 4/18/2023 9:06 AM
By practicing work-life balance it can allow people to take the time to notice their environment. Additionally, it can help people learn how to put time aside to help for completing sustainable actions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What is easy for you to do when having a constructive conversation and what is challenging? What tips do you have for having a constructive conversation?

    Mya Freeman's avatar
    Mya Freeman 4/14/2023 5:39 AM
It often depends on the person you are talking to! If you get along with this person and have trust, a constructive conversation should be easier.

I've been learning about this, and it seems that a big tip is to try to find something you have in common, connect with the person first, before moving on to the more constructive/challenging part
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Mya Freeman's avatar
    Mya Freeman 4/12/2023 7:21 PM
Some of the places I frequent often are school and work. By carpooling with friends or family to these places it not only allows me to spend time strengthening these relationships, but also saves fuel and reduces my carbon emissions.

Yes, I've gotten to know many JAC people through carpooling - I love it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Mya Freeman's avatar
    Mya Freeman 4/12/2023 7:20 PM
By spending more time outside, it showed me how truly valuable time in nature can be. We get so sucked into our screens that sometimes we forget to pause and appreciate the world around us. By doing this, it can encourage us to do more for our environment.
