Furthermore, if you don't go outside, you don't get to experience a certain feeling of AWE that only the natural world can provide. Seeing the stars on a clear night; watching and listening to birds going about their business; hearing the water rushing along a river; feeling the wind and the sunshine on your face; seeing the trilliums start to poke out of the ground: I could go on, but I think you can pick up what I'm laying down!

Tanya G 4/30/2023 9:57 AMWell Team Welly, I managed to do exactly ZERO of my one-time challenges. I killed it at saving water, and I was somewhat mindful. I took a bunch of photos. And I did go for many walks. -
Tanya G 4/28/2023 11:48 AMI've been KILLING the 5 minute showers, man! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Tanya G 4/21/2023 9:36 AMPeople who spend most of their time inside and on screens are cut off from the natural world. We humans require social connection AND connection with the natural world. Our mental health depends on it.
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is art an important way for you to express sustainability values?
Tanya G 4/21/2023 9:27 AMI love to take photos. When I go for a walk and I see something particularly stunning, I want to share it with others who might not otherwise know about a particular area in a park, for example.
When I see a nature picture, it reminds me that I want to do my best to preserve the beauty on this planet. And I think it has the same effect on other people! -
Tanya G 4/18/2023 1:14 PMHi Team! I had planned to go for a walk and take photos along the river this afternoon. However, after I got my winter tires off the car, I was told that my rear brakes were shot! I'll try to sneak out to take a picture on my break! -
Tanya G 4/17/2023 1:43 PMWell team, I've been off my game over the past two weeks, but I'm back in the saddle now!
Going to start taking nature-appreciation photos and posting them for your viewing pleasure!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Tanya G 4/17/2023 1:17 PMI used to do mindful meditation on a regular basis. And then...you miss one day...and then two...and eventually you stop doing it on a regular basis. I have learned that it is necessary to schedule the time in my agenda book. FIRST THING in the morning; well, after my coffee. It's a good way to start the day. -
Tanya G 4/01/2023 5:23 AMI chose to enter this challenge for the following reasons: to increase my awareness of what I *can* be doing but have not thought of doing; to make changes to my actions that benefit the planet - to develop new and healthy habits.
