Reflection on I Am Greta, originally shared to Facebook
TW: dehumanizing language & mention of gun violence

"We have not taken to the streets for you to take selfies with us, and tell us that you really admire what we do."

This is the difference between a politician and a lawmaker.

Politicians play games with your tax dollars. They take selfies, shake hands, and pat these kids on the head for “standing up for what they believe in.” They dole out praises and encouragement until their ratings or stocks take a downturn, or a fossil fuel company offers them a better deal.

Greta Thunberg is a lawmaker. Someone actually advocating for progressive changes to our laws. Greta speaks the truth and acts accordingly. Instead of flying and adding to carbon emissions, she sailed across the ocean to call our world leaders’ bluffs at the 2019 UN climate summit.

These same world leaders, shaking her hand and taking selfies, didn’t stand up for her when the President of the United States mocked her disability and truth-telling, emboldening others to do the same. Florida state representative Webster Barnaby (R) recently called trans people “mutants” and “demons.” Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton compared protesting students (children) to the January 6th insurrectionists (adults).

When is mocking and dehumanizing children EVER acceptable? And why aren’t we doing more to stand up for them??

World leaders and grown-ups are supposed to be role models. Our children are calling all our bluffs. They aren't waiting for the adults or politicians to take action in restoring their childhoods and futures, because the earth and the bullets sure as hell aren’t waiting for them.

I stand with Greta, March For Our Lives, and the LGBTQ+ community. There's room for everyone in this fight. I hope you'll join us.

    Water Conservation!
I came across a reel from @HowChangers on Instagram the other day.
The US wastes 400 million to 1.3 trillion gallons of water just waiting for the water to warm up! (yearly, assuming)
Grab a bucket, a watering can, an upcycled bathroom trashcan, and repurpose this water!
    • Water your plants, garden, or lawn
    • Flush your toilet
    • Use as drinking water for your pets
    • Wash clothes or dishes
    • Fill the mop bucket
    • Capture in a sanitary container and use for cooking
This video was Day 6 of their being an ✨Imperfect ✨ Environmentalist series.
