  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
What is one way you will reduce your carbon footprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?

Doing the carbon footprint self assessment was really interesting. I thought driving an electric vehicle and having a house that was all electric (with 99% renewable energy to boot) that I'd be a climate champion, instead I'm a glutton. Ugh.
This was helpful in identifying areas that I can improve and likely reduce my carbon footprint. Flying places does not help!!

How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

I just got done with a big landscaping project at my house and we planted over 15 trees in addition to 35 rhododendrons and lots of other plants. I still have a few things to fill in and plan to plant a couple of additional trees this month.

I love working outside in the yard (except for weeding- but even that can be ok with a good audio book).

I started off the month over the weekend golfing with some of my college buddies both Saturday and Sunday. That was over five hours both days spent outside which was great! Yesterday I went kayaking after work for an hour and hope to get out every day this month for at least an hour of outside activity- walking, biking, kayaking or golfing!!

I take short showers! I also wait until the dishwasher is full before running a load of dishes.
