Debra's actions
Basic Needs & Security
Volunteer in My Community
SDG 1
I will volunteer 2 hours in my community.
Health & Equity
Spend Time Outside
SDG 3
I will replace 60 minute(s) per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Climate & Ecosystems
Explore My Area
SDG 14, 15
Each day, I will spend 30 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Education & Livelihood
Work-Life Balance
SDG 8
During the workday, I will schedule time for daily breaks during work days to practice work-life balance.
Economy & Communities
Carry My Trash
SDG 12
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me each day to raise my awareness of how much waste I produce.
Basic Needs & Security
Reduce Animal Product Consumption
SDG 2
One kilogram of beef and cheese emits 71kg and 24kg of greenhouse gasses, while 1kg of rice, grains, and legumes emits between 2-4kg. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts emit less than 1kg per 1kg. I will reduce my climate impact by enjoying 1 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day this week.
Economy & Communities
Choose LED Bulbs
SDG 7
I will replace 3 incandescent light bulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Basic Needs & Security
Get Involved in the Water Justice Movement
SDG 6
I will spend 30 minutes learning about water justice in my region.
Basic Needs & Security
Try a New Vegan or Vegetarian Recipe
I will try a new vegan or vegetarian recipe and share how it turns out on the Ecochallenge feed, or with family and friends.
Climate & Ecosystems
Calculate Your Carbon Impact
SDG 13
I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how lifestyle changes could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Debra harris 4/18/2023 2:21 PMBeing in nature is my happy place and gives me peace. Not only is it good for my health it helps the environment. -
Debra harris 4/18/2023 2:20 PMEven though it is a regular thing to be taking the trash out is really does make a difference that other people see it. I know some neighbors will take out their trash and, on the way, garbage falls but they leave it on the ground and keep going. I make sure to pick up my trash and place in the correct place. Lead by example -
Debra harris 4/18/2023 2:18 PMI stopped eating meat except chicken for the past two years. I had no idea that not eating beef helps my carbon footprint. This was very interesting to learn when taking my carbon footprint test. -
Debra harris 4/18/2023 2:17 PMIt is always important to practice and take breaks during the work day. I sometimes get to involved in my work that I don't take breaks. This is a benefit to not only me but also my environment. -
Debra harris 4/18/2023 2:12 PMI had already given up eating meat except for chicken 2 years ago but had no idea that not eating beef improves my carbon footprint. This was very interesting to learn and made me feel good on my decision in eating primarily plant based foods. -
