Most companies do not use natural ingredients and some still use outdated ones that may cause harm to us in the long term.

-
Kareen Hinostroza 4/26/2023 11:13 AMMost people throw egg shells away but in fact they are useful as compost and bird feed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/23/2023 7:17 AMThe ingredients are mostly the same compromised of things such as surfactants, preservatives, and fragrances. Although there is more parts, some of these have of course different compounds that arent as good for us or the environment, but it all depends on the company.
Most companies do not use natural ingredients and some still use outdated ones that may cause harm to us in the long term. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/23/2023 7:11 AMI donate food because there is people who need it more than me. I'd rather give it away to someone rather than having it be sitting in my pantry for months. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat place in your region are you most excited to visit during your staycation?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/23/2023 7:10 AMNew York is close from here with alot of things to do. I would be a whole day there from morning to night and wouldn't even finish sightseeing all of Manhattan. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/23/2023 7:08 AMI've always liked volunteering for the community and it always makes me feel just happy overall knowing I'm making a slight difference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was the most interesting thing you learned from analyzing your utility bill? What are some ways you can save energy and water?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/23/2023 7:07 AMThe utility bill by season becomes higher and lower. Of course because of the usage of lights during holidays such as Christmas.
Some ways to save energy is to have a countdown timer on the lights and to take quick cold showers to conserve water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was one nonprofit organization that was exciting to learn about?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/21/2023 6:46 AMI came across a non profit called People For Animals a while back. They were willing to help me with the process of having a new pet.
Apart from that, they have affordable programs for pets such as spay neuter and low to free vaccine costs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWho is affected by water insecurity in your region? How are they affected? How are you impacted by water insecurity?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/21/2023 6:37 AMEveryone of course would be affected by water insecurity but the ones most affected would be women and children as well as people who rely on distilled water or another type to survive.
I am impacted by water insecurity because we basically use water for everything. Cleaning our food, ourselves, our objects. Drinking water, giving water to our plants.
A person cannot survive more than 3 to 6 days without water, but months without food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/12/2023 9:29 AMI love bees. They are so cute. I plant sunflowers every year and I used to pet them actually cause of how close I was to the bees. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon footprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Kareen Hinostroza 4/12/2023 9:27 AMI try to carpool with my dad and/or my boyfriend from time to time. With my dad in weekends and bf in some weekdays since he works 5 min from here.
