What was one nonprofit organization that was exciting to learn about?

Having gone to school at Tulane and attended a many Mardi Gras activities - I have an excess of mardi gras beads. I always hated to throw them away since they are not biodegradable. I found a local charity, Carnegie Visual Arts Center, that has a need for these beads for their own events and I can now donate them... clear out space in my house and give to charity. Win/Win!

I went to Mardi Gras this year! I’ll see if we have anywhere to donate beads around here!

Very interesting! I know some schools or foster care agencies take many things like necklaces, clothing, blankets, books, toys, old crayons, etc and they use it for visitations.

One great thing about this challenge is seeing that the people that are participating are actually walking the walk. We have some truly inspirational people in our organization. I have enjoyed the social aspects of this challenge getting to chat back and forth and engage with employees that I don't normally get to engage with.

This challenge has opened my eyes and made me realize that small changes do make a difference and that there is many resources out there for sustainability. Also, I learned that some state agencies such as NYSDEC provide free trees and bushes to establish or improve a stream buffer!
