REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?
Tricia Jones 4/26/2023 5:55 AMWatched the HEALTHCARE DIVIDE on PBS Passport - wow. I feel so fortunate to have access to healthcare, healthy activities and healthy food. The uneven distribution of our health care system has economic and, in my opinion, moral consequences we do not always think through. In my own situation, I know I need to reduce stress, get more active, eat healthier and advocate for the underserved. -
Tricia Jones 4/25/2023 12:05 PMEmergency preparedness - getting bathroom remodeled, 1968 plumbing - series of mini-emergencies. I've learned how and where to turn off plumbing to the building and to have towels on readily available (on top of my w/d - hidden but easily grabable) for any water overflow issue. Also know to fill bathtub with water in anticipation of water shut off. YIKES! I see why new buyers prefer to buy new / updated homes over fixer-uppers! -
Tricia Jones 4/24/2023 5:27 AMI just checked the cereal label - it is vegan!! So with almond milk - that counts as Vegan - WOOT WOOT! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Tricia Jones 4/24/2023 5:25 AMI made a Greek salad with falafel - fresh delicious and satisfying! The only non vegan part was the Feta on the salad and the yogurt based cucumber dip for the falafel. I made the falafel from a mix, but may try to figure out how to make the ground chick pea powder myself...! In any case, this may become a go-to summer meal! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
Tricia Jones 4/20/2023 6:05 AMvery surprised how many clothes I have! hemmed 3 pants, have a dress and a jacket that I'll be taking to alterations shop. I heard Jane Fonda pledged to not buy any more clothing in support of the climate - I imagine she has quite a large wardrobe! Hopefully she will make it fashionable to re-wear garments in Hollywood! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to create a readiness plan? Did you find other resources you could share?
Tricia Jones 4/18/2023 8:41 AMI've been thinking, from a minimalist point of view, "What do I really need if I had to start over in the event of a catastrophe?" Short answer: Not near as much as I have! I've started a list, basically organized by room/station - kitchen, bath, bed, closet, desk. I may add more as as I go. The bare minimum list will become part of the disaster plan. And the exercise will also help me clean out and make more thoughtful purchase decisions going forward. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentary(ies) you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?
Tricia Jones 4/17/2023 6:55 PMWatched 3 part NATURE series Born in the Rockies - Wed night is my favorite TV night - Science and Nature night on PBS!! I also have PBS Passport and so also stream programs I've missed. The show NATURE and several of the other series, especially those with David Attenborough have a wonderful, centering effect on me. Support your local Public Television Station!!
