Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Economy & Communities
What was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/28/2023 1:11 PM
I've fixed my clothes many times as I like to maintain my favourite clothes rather than throwing it away. There are plenty of videos online which helped me with the stitching techniques. I would suggest to watch those videos (try searching “stitching hacks” on instagram).

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/28/2023 12:57 PM
Pollinators are essential for the plant growth (pollination) and the generation of food. Honeybee is my favorite pollinator.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
How did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/24/2023 2:32 AM
I tried making tomato fry using the entire tomato. As a zero-waste practice, I plan to make a curry using leftover vegetable scraps.

Today, as we celebrate Earth Day, it is critical that we consider our impact on the planet and take action to protect it. I am overjoyed to be a part of this effort to ensure a sustainable future for future generations.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What was the dish you made, and how did it turn out? What did it feel like to try a new recipe? If you can share a picture, please do!

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/14/2023 10:53 PM
I cooked Lemon Rice (a South Indian dish) and it was delicious. I was relieved to discover that it was a simple dish to prepare.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/14/2023 12:14 AM
Mindfulness practice has been relaxing and centering, allowing me to be present in the moment. During Earth Month, I learned the value of connecting mindfulness with nature, enhancing my awareness for the environment and my role in sustainability.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood
How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/14/2023 12:10 AM
Work-life balance allows me to preserve my physical and emotional health. It promotes a healthy workforce, which adds to sustainability.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Economy & Communities
What one thing will you do right away to reduce your waste? What is the second thing you will do?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/12/2023 11:27 AM
To begin reducing waste, I would always carry a reusable water bottle with me and refuse single-use plastic bottles. In addition, I would commit to properly recycling and composting organic waste at home. Small changes like these can make a big difference in terms of waste reduction and environmental protection.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Anusree K's avatar
    Anusree K 4/11/2023 10:22 PM
"As someone who has fallen into the trap of spending most of my time indoors and on screens, I've realized the negative impact it has on my well-being, from feeling disconnected from nature to struggling with mental health. I'm now committed to finding a healthier balance, prioritizing meaningful experiences and human connections over screens, and prioritizing my physical and mental health."

"I've taken up the challenge to carry my trash with me wherever I go during Earth Month EcoChallenge because I want to become more mindful of my waste and reduce my environmental impact. I'm also committed to finding a better work-life balance by setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and making time for things that truly matter to me, like spending time in nature and connecting with loved ones."
