Katie Chinn 4/27/2023 4:43 PMThat is a great idea! I am going to try to make some meals ahead of time and freeze them for easy meals during the week.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityHow have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?
Karen Ladouceur 4/27/2023 11:44 AMTo reduce purchasing and consumption habits, we are trying to get better at planning meals ahead of time and creating our shopping list based on what ingredients we have in the house and purchasing only what is needed for the planned meals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityHow did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?
Karen Ladouceur 4/24/2023 4:48 AMSomething new we have been trying in my home is to be better at cooking only the portion sizes we expect to be eaten at mealtime. When we aren't so good at it, the motto is "save it for later"!
While I know many people who refuse to eat leftovers, I refuse to throw away perfectly good food. If we don't finish a meal, we package what is left and put it into the fridge to have at a later time. If we have too many leftovers that aren't getting eaten, then one night's dinner is "Leftover Night" - a buffet where you can take some of this and some of that.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Karen Ladouceur 4/21/2023 5:28 AMAs a remote worker, I have the tendency to sit at my desk and work without breaks (even eating my lunch at my desk). I've started wearing my Apple watch and using the reminders to "stand" to make sure I move and take care of ME during the day. It helps to prevent my body from being achy and gives me a little more energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodHow do you create new sustainability-related habits or change bad habits?
Karen Ladouceur 4/13/2023 10:05 AMWe purchase K-Cup Pod recycling boxes as part of the Keurig Commercial K-Cycle recycling program and use them in our homes. Instead of throwing away K-Cups, we fill up a box (which comes with a shipping label as part of the cost) and ship it back so all materials are given a "second life". Our last returned box contained 19 pounds of recyclable materials.-
Katie Chinn 4/13/2023 7:10 PMThat is an awesome idea - didn’t realize Keurig even had that. Thank you so much for sharing and for helping the environment!
