Health Introspection

Look at whether my lifestyle is supporting my health as I get older. Are there things I should do more of, or less of. I eat healthy, walk and cycle a lot - yet I feel achy a lot. I used to do more aerobic and strength exercises which kept my muscles and joints in shape. Think about doing some light exercise at least weekly.

    What I have noticed in the course of this challenge is that it is:
    1. Easy to eat 2 meals a day vegetarian;
    2. There is way too much trash being casually dumped on our streets and in our parks (not enough bins you say? bring it home!);
    3. That to enjoy a good work/life balance or mental health does not mean one has to go outside - just picking up a book for 20 minutes rather than the remote (Tablet for casting!) or phone;
    4. Our dogs get a lot of healthy walks, because we walk a lot - 3 times a day, even if it is only 10 minutes a lunchtime;
    5. The challenge does not recognise that there are a lot of people already living a healthy life with low carbon footprint, yet are not recognised for it in points.
    6. I am still competitive by nature - see number 5 above!

      Well put, Mark. So many simple and easy actions to take on a a day to day basis, this has been a good reminder of all that can be done to a make you more conscious of your impact on the environment ... and have to confess I'm stupidly motivated by seeing the points clock up!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
    What was your experience like plogging, or engaging in another way to collect litter while being outside? Was there any item you collected that was unusual that you found?

    Quick walk of the dogs this evening, and picked up just a small amount of the trash left by the hundreds of kids and families attending rugby and soccer matches in the park today. At least I picked up some of the plastic... nothing unusual, just sweet wrappers.

    Still, the park was beautiful tonight at sunset.

    spent
    just 30 minutes collecting this sack of trash around Dun Laoghaire for tidy towns. Dozens of cans, bottles, masks, McDonald's wrappers.
    We really need a deposit return system to eliminate all this trash.
