Scott's actions
Climate & Ecosystems
Plant a Tree
SDG 15
On average, a tree absorbs 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of carbon dioxide yearly during the first 20 years. To do my part, I will plant 10 trees in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Economy & Communities
Install Solar on my home
Augment grid based energy with solar
Climate & Ecosystems
Ecological & Xeriscape Gardening
SDG 14, 15
Studies show a grass lawn is water intensive and on average it require about 30 percent of a household’s water consumption. I will do one or more of the following actions in my yard or community to conserve water and improve habitat: plant indigenous plants, landscape with water-efficient plants, add mulching, replace a lawn, and/or use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Climate & Ecosystems

Climate & Ecosystems
Greenecdotes
Have you recently taken steps in embracing an eco-friendlier lifestyle outside the office? If yes, share your “greenecdote” with us. Email [email protected] and your story may be featured on Access for Earth Month.
Economy & Communities
Replace Manual Thermostats
SDG 7, 9, 12
I will replace manual thermostats with smart ones.
Climate & Ecosystems
Support Local Pollinators
SDG 15
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will plant pollinator-friendly plants in my area to support local pollinators.
Economy & Communities
Analyze Your Utility Bills
SDG 7
I spend 10 minutes analyzing my recent utility bills, which might include electricity, gas, or water to see what my current usage is and determine if I can reduce my energy and water use.
Economy & Communities
Choose LED Bulbs
SDG 7
I will replace 20 incandescent light bulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Economy & Communities
Watch a Documentary About Economy, Energy, or Industry
SDG 7, 9, 12
I will watch 2 documentaries about economy, energy, or industry.
Economy & Communities
Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
SDG 7
I will contact my energy company to find out how to sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.

Scott Lee 4/05/2023 6:00 AMOn 3/25, planted a few new plants in an unfinished area of my yard (there's a few of those). This particular area will help stop rain water runoff erosion from happening once they mature. There are several underground that haven't popped up yet, but there are a few above ground already too. The one in the pot we haven't decided where it's going to go yet. -
Scott Lee 4/05/2023 5:55 AMPlanted 1.1 acres (50,000 sf) of new grass in my yard. About 2/3 a few weeks ago, with the other 1/3 about 2 weeks ago. It's growin' fast!! BTW... you can see the trees and bushes I'm about to plant in the very back of the first picture. Look for another post on that soon. -
Scott Lee 4/05/2023 5:51 AMSolar has been ordered. Unfortunately it won't be installed this month. Hoping for May or June, but it's ordered and underway. Ordered a 7.2kWh system with Tesla PowerWall. This will produce 113% of my homes monthly power consumption meaning I'll be pushing back to the grid not only reducing my carbon consumption, but the net will be a negative carbon consumption of power.
