Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
Was this hard for you to do?

    Kate McGregor's avatar
    Kate McGregor 4/26/2023 5:17 AM
Super easy. I live walking distance from work! I walk every day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate & Ecosystems
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

    Kate McGregor's avatar
    Kate McGregor 4/20/2023 7:50 AM
It's important to take care of pollinators for so many reasons, but perhaps most obviously because they enable our food to grow. No pollinators = no food. I have a 30'x35' veggie garden, plus a large flower garden. I've already started my seedlings, which include many pollinator-friendly flowers (cosmos, zinnias, sunflowers, etc.) and around 20 different veggie varieties.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity
What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

    Kate McGregor's avatar
    Kate McGregor 4/05/2023 6:39 AM
I've tried practicing mindfulness before, and I always have a hard time sticking with it. I'm glad to be prompted by the Eco Challange to try again, because it really does help me pause and center myself. Even just a few minutes helps.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood
How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Kate McGregor's avatar
    Kate McGregor 4/04/2023 10:13 AM
The biggest part of my work-life balance is living walking distance from work. I realize I am incredibly fortunate in this respect. I can walk to work no matter the weather, and spend less than 10 minutes "commuting" each day. The result is less stress, more free time, and less driving.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What was the dish you made, and how did it turn out? What did it feel like to try a new recipe? If you can share a picture, please do!

    Kate McGregor's avatar
    Kate McGregor 4/03/2023 10:14 AM
Lentil and chickpea salad, with kale and lots of fresh herbs. Super delicious!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

    Kate McGregor's avatar
    Kate McGregor 4/03/2023 10:12 AM
I'll further reduce my water consumption by using a rain barrel to help with watering my garden this year.
