Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Basic Needs & Security
What did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?

The documentary I watched was an episode of Netflix's explained. The episode was called World's Water Crisis. I learned in the episode the world has taken for granted the supply of fresh water. For example, 48% of Mexico City's water is lost due to leaky pipes. Water is going to become a valuable asset like oil. We need to take steps now to delay the date the world uses the last drop of water.

Bloomington was having the same problem and have replaced or lined a lot of their pipes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

It was nice to set a side time to be by myself and to try to clear my mind. It helped me to relax and relieved some anxiety I have at times. This is something I am going to try to continue.

What was the dish you made, and how did it turn out? What did it feel like to try a new recipe? If you can share a picture, please do!

The dish I made was Baked Feta Pasta. The main ingredients were grape tomatoes, feta cheese and pasta. The recipe actually turned out great and my family loved it. They aren't even vegetarians and they loved it. It felt great to try a new recipe, and now I'm going to make it for my friends.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

I am still working on being consistent with showers 5 minutes or less, but the next step to reducing my water footprint is to cut down on drinking bottled water. I've already started to use reusable water bottles when at work.

What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

They isolate themselves from other and lack of interaction with others in person could lead the culture to fall apart.
