I was volunteering with the Girl Scouts in a drone program and one little girl (about 10 years of age) walked up to one of the gentlemen leaders and asked “Do you like hugs?” And the leader responded, “Of course I like hugs.” He then proceeded to hug the little girl. She was enraptured by the discussion about all the professions related to drones and what sorts of careers are available. Helping empower girls to think about careers in science and technology and giving them the independence and encouragement to pursue anything they are interested in. I love working with girls and I’d like to work with more students to encourage more careers in the engineering fields.
