Amy's actions
Health & Equity
Practice Mindfulness
SDG 3
I will spend 5 minutes each day practicing mindfulness.
Health & Equity
Spend Time Outside
SDG 3
I will replace 30 minute(s) per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Health & Equity
Track My Purchases
SDG 10
Each day, I will track my purchases to identify my spending habits. This will allow me to see what purchases can be reduced.
Health & Equity
Donate Food
SDG 3, 10
I will find out what food programs are in my area and donate food and/or other items that they request.
Basic Needs & Security
Make Zero-Waste Meals
SDG 2
I will cook 1 meals with zero waste each day.
Basic Needs & Security
Reduce Animal Product Consumption
SDG 2
One kilogram of beef and cheese emits 71kg and 24kg of greenhouse gasses, while 1kg of rice, grains, and legumes emits between 2-4kg. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts emit less than 1kg per 1kg. I will reduce my climate impact by enjoying 1 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day this week.
Basic Needs & Security
Calculate Your Water Footprint
SDG 6
I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityHow did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Amy Philips 4/21/2023 11:24 AMI loved my friends vegan chocolate chip cookies. I do not have the recipe, but they were the best cookies I've ever had-
Susan Healey 4/24/2023 6:02 AMI bought vegetarian sausages by a company called Field Roast. Picked them up at Food Basics, $6.99 for 4, really delicious. Liked them so much I got another package :) They seem pricey but one or two sausages together with salad or veggies can make a full meal for one.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Amy Philips 4/21/2023 11:23 AMIt is nice to practice mindfulness. It connects me to the earth and to my thoughts. I typically practice during yoga but it was nice to do it outside of that -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Amy Philips 4/21/2023 11:22 AMHealth issues, laziness, lack on energy, lack of vitamin D, depression. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityHow have you reduced your purchasing habits and what would you like to do next to reduce your consumption habits?
Amy Philips 4/21/2023 11:21 AMI would like to stop buying a coffee everyday.-
Jordan Grigg 4/24/2023 6:11 AMMe too! Prior to the pandemic, I only bought coffee if I had my reusable cup with me, but public health rules over the past few years changed that. Now that I can bring my reusable cup again, I need to start holding myself accountable! Great reminder!
