Angelique's actions
Climate & Ecosystems
Ecological & Xeriscape Gardening
SDG 14, 15
Studies show a grass lawn is water intensive and on average it require about 30 percent of a household’s water consumption. I will do one or more of the following actions in my yard or community to conserve water and improve habitat: plant indigenous plants, landscape with water-efficient plants, add mulching, replace a lawn, and/or use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Climate & Ecosystems
Create & Share A Love Letter, Poem, Song or Picture
SDG 14, 15
I will express my love and gratitude for our planet by writing a love letter, poem, song or taking a picture. I will share this in the Ecochallenge feed or on my social media.
Basic Needs & Security
Calculate Your Water Footprint
SDG 6
I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Climate & Ecosystems
Explore My Area
SDG 14, 15
Each day, I will spend 20 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Health & Equity
Track My Purchases
SDG 10
Each day, I will track my purchases to identify my spending habits. This will allow me to see what purchases can be reduced.
Climate & Ecosystems
Calculate Your Carbon Impact
SDG 13
I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how lifestyle changes could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment.
Climate & Ecosystems
Watch a Documentary About Climate Change or Nature
SDG 13, 14, 15
I will watch 3 documentaries about climate change.
Health & Equity
Donate Food
SDG 3, 10
I will find out what food programs are in my area and donate food and/or other items that they request.
Health & Equity
Spend Time Outside
SDG 3
I will replace 30 minute(s) per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Education & Livelihood
Share Your Eco Habits
SDG 11
Through my Earth Month Ecochallenge feed, I will share with others an environmentally friendly habit I have cultivated.
Education & Livelihood

Angelique Quinn 4/28/2023 9:09 AMJust 2 more days left on this challenge! Finish strong, everyone! -
Angelique Quinn 4/26/2023 7:00 AMI joined a local community Facebook page in which people donate gently used household items, clothing, etc. to whoever in the group wants it. Buying pre-loved items promotes the reduction of waste within a community. Not to mention, it saves you money. -
Angelique Quinn 4/25/2023 6:53 AMThis year's ecochallenge has made me incredibly aware of sustainability issues on our planet. The fact that Sudan and our own Native Americans face food shortages because of climate changes is a red flag! We all need to do more every day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is art an important way for you to express sustainability values?
Angelique Quinn 4/19/2023 6:57 AMArt, particularly in nature, allows us to view sustainability from a different perspective. It can be beautiful when we look at a picture of a field full of flowers or ugly when we see an image of trash piles washed upon a shore. Either way, it touches us and raises awareness for our planet. -
Angelique Quinn 4/18/2023 5:11 AMHere's a wild stat from the Carbon Literacy Project: storing a year’s worth of emails on your computer or phone can cause up to 0.66 tons of carbon dioxide. Tips: Clear out your inbox, unsubscribe to mailing list that are no longer relevant, write concisely and keep messages brief, attach images or large files only when necessary.

Angelique Quinn 4/15/2023 8:24 AMToday I was lucky enough to spend time with small kids and we had fun making homemade bird feeders out of juice cartons, orange skins, and egg cartons. It was a great opportunity to teach them about recycling and nature. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?
Angelique Quinn 4/13/2023 6:06 AMAfter doing some research, I was surprised to learn how many hungry families there are right in my own community. Neighbors are struggling for a variety of reasons and I adopt a "it takes a village" mentality to make sure we all share in the responsibility of helping others where we can. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Angelique Quinn 4/12/2023 10:01 AMShorter showers (hard with teenagers in the house) and using the dishwasher instead of hand washing dishes. -
Angelique Quinn 4/12/2023 9:58 AMI just discovered a cool thing on clean energy charging for iPhones, In the U.S., your iPhone will try to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available in your region. You'll need to turn this feature on in your Settings.
