I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Climate & Ecosystems
Watch a Documentary About Climate Change or Nature

I will watch 3 documentaries about climate change.
Climate & Ecosystems
Support Local Pollinators
SDG 15
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will plant pollinator-friendly plants in my area to support local pollinators.
Climate & Ecosystems
Calculate Your Carbon Impact
SDG 13
I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how lifestyle changes could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment.
Education & Livelihood
Share Your Eco Habits
SDG 11
Through my Earth Month Ecochallenge feed, I will share with others an environmentally friendly habit I have cultivated.
Basic Needs & Security
Try a New Vegan or Vegetarian Recipe
I will try a new vegan or vegetarian recipe and share how it turns out on the Ecochallenge feed, or with family and friends.

WSP - Climate Solutions Plan and Accelerator Course
Read WSP’s Climate Transition Plan, which details how we plan to reduce GHG emissions. We began implementation of our Low-Carbon Supplier Engagement Plan in January. Learn more about it by listening to our supplier kickoff webinar. Increase your climate literacy, take the 2-part Climate Solutions Accelerator Course on the WSP My Learning Platform.

WSP - Emerge Program
Spend 15 minutes learning about the Emerge Program at WSP. Emerge is WSP's strategic alliance program that seeks early-stage companies with novel solutions as strategic partners. Partners get access to in-house subject matter experts, an opportunity to pilot their products/technologies with WSP during the evaluation phase and have access to our client base. Emerge propels our partners by accelerating the product/technology adoption. Having recently launched our 4th cohort, Emerge has accelerated a number of companies whose mission aligns with UN SDGs. • Olokun Minerals • ecoSPEARS • PLAEX Building Systems

Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
-
Elizabeth Sampson 4/25/2023 1:47 PMA good eco-habit is to pick up trash when you see it on sidewalks and trails. -
Elizabeth Sampson 4/24/2023 3:09 PMAn eco-habit I have cultivated is re-using old shirts as rags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon footprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Elizabeth Sampson 4/20/2023 1:55 PMI will reduce my carbon footprint by walking and taking public transit when possible. -

Elizabeth Sampson 4/20/2023 1:47 PMA handy eco-habit of mine is carrying around re-usable silverware with me to avoid using single use plastic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?
Elizabeth Sampson 4/19/2023 3:10 PMIt is important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures because so much of it has been brutally stripped away and now mocked. Too many people are ignorant of the true histories of natives and the challenges they are still facing today. Native or non-native, we all need to speak up against cultural appropriation when we see it. -

Elizabeth Sampson 4/18/2023 7:51 PMAn eco habit I have cultivated is using laundry strips. I can't rave about these enough... they are so small to store, the packaging is compostable (so not giant plastic containers) and travel is a breeze with no worries about liquids escaping or going through TSA. -
Elizabeth Sampson 4/14/2023 12:19 PMYesterday I read through some of the "The Drawdown" and learned so much about the pros and cons of different energy sources. Some energy sources are called 'bridges', meaning that they aren't the final goal but necessary for the transition to a net zero future. This changed my outlook on the progress of some of these 'bridge' sources being built. Although they have some negative attributes, they are an important step forward. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & SecurityWhat did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?
Elizabeth Sampson 4/12/2023 11:49 AMWatching 'Kiss the Ground' showed me how big of an impact planting year round vegetation and growing 'groceries' in your own yard can make on the micro and macro climates. 'The Minimalists' taught me that just because I have money to spend doesn't mean I should spend it. Useless and joyless objects can weigh down your life. I want to break the cycle of make more, spend more. Use extra money to "buy free time" ~live life and work less~ rather than throwing it away on items I really don't need.
