REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentary(ies) you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?
Kolten Smith 4/25/2023 2:13 PMI watched Meltdown (2021). It was very intriguing to see how climate change affected the subject of the documentary through photography. The film highlighted the similarities between the fleetingness of our lives and the rapid melting of the Arctic ice. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhy is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?
Kolten Smith 4/05/2023 7:54 PMIt is always a good idea to educate oneself on the history of the land we live on and the peoples that have called it home. Learning about Native peoples can help us better understand the hardships they have faced and how we can help honor their legacy. Also, there's a lot to learn in the realm of sustainability from Indigenous communities. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon footprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?
Kolten Smith 4/01/2023 12:19 PMOne way that I can minimize my carbon footprint in the future is by prioritizing in-season and locally sourced goods when grocery shopping. An example of a carbon footprint-reducing activity that I have already implemented in my life is avoiding meals that include beef products.
