Health & Equity
Practice Mindfulness
SDG 3
I will spend 5 minutes each day practicing mindfulness.
Economy & Communities
Mend Clothing
SDG 9
I will mend clothing for myself, family or friends.
Climate & Ecosystems
Support Local Pollinators
SDG 15
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will plant pollinator-friendly plants in my area to support local pollinators.
Health & Equity
Spend Time Outside
SDG 3
I will replace 20 minute(s) per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Economy & Communities
Analyze Your Utility Bills
SDG 7
I spend 30 minutes analyzing my recent utility bills, which might include electricity, gas, or water to see what my current usage is and determine if I can reduce my energy and water use.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Rachael Smith 4/30/2023 9:09 AMPeople end up being unmoored from our natural world seems to be the biggest thing I’ve noticed when we get too much screen time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?
Rachael Smith 4/27/2023 10:58 AMMy favorite pollinator is the mason bee! I got a bee house a few years ago and yesterday I spent about 10 minutes just watching the mason bees go in and out of the little house. It was magica. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was the most interesting thing you learned from analyzing your utility bill? What are some ways you can save energy and water?
Rachael Smith 4/12/2023 1:10 PMIt was cool to see how effective the ECO mode on our Nest thermostat is! Seeing how much we save by just allowing it to do its job was a nice surprise. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
Rachael Smith 4/09/2023 6:42 PMI mended a sweater for my partner and one of my own. I’m not the most skilled, but taking a little time I was able to fix my partner’s sweater so it looked great! My own I used brightly colored thread so the mended spots stand out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & EquityWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Rachael Smith 4/03/2023 12:18 PMTaking time to do deep breathing, reflecting on my intentions for the day ahead, and simply sitting with myself have helped me practice mindfulness.
