Sara's actions
Climate & Ecosystems
Drive Less
SDG 13
To reduce CO2 emissions each day, I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Climate & Ecosystems
LEARN ABOUT SLALOM’S IMPACT
I will spend 5 minutes per day learning about Slalom’s impact and environmental action by reading the 2021 Impact Report and viewing resources on the Earth Month SharePoint page.
Economy & Communities
Analyze Your Utility Bills
SDG 7
I spend 3 minutes analyzing my recent utility bills, which might include electricity, gas, or water to see what my current usage is and determine if I can reduce my energy and water use.
Education & Livelihood
Host or Join a Cleanup Event
SDG 11, 17
Within my community at home or work, I will organize or attend a local cleanup event.
Climate & Ecosystems
Watch a Documentary About Climate Change or Nature
SDG 13, 14, 15
I will watch 1 documentaries about climate change.
Economy & Communities
Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
SDG 7
I will contact my energy company to find out how to sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.
Education & Livelihood
Stay on the Ground
SDG 11
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally). As an example, a plane from New York to Los Angeles (~2,450 miles) generates about 65 tons of carbon dioxide.
Education & Livelihood
ENGAGE WITH CLIENTS
I will research my client’s sustainability goals and actions and work with my account team to brainstorm ways Slalom can help.
Basic Needs & Security
Try a New Vegan or Vegetarian Recipe
I will try a new vegan or vegetarian recipe and share how it turns out on the Ecochallenge feed, or with family and friends.
Education & Livelihood
Try Carpooling
SDG 11
I will commute by carpool 2 mile(s) per day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & EcosystemsHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Sara Tupac 4/05/2023 7:49 AMNot gonna lie - I prefer being able to jump into my car when I'm ready, with all my stuff, and have full flexibility to come and go when I choose. However... I have really enjoyed having the light rail about a 15 minute walk from my house so that on nice days, I can get a little bit of a walk in the morning on the way to the station, can tune out the world and listen to a podcast or audiobook on the ride, and then have another short walk to the office. I'm definitely fair weather about this, but really like having the option! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Sara Tupac 4/04/2023 2:16 PMI took the light rail to work today. Extra bonus are opportunities to walk to and from the stations! -
Sara Tupac 4/03/2023 10:40 AMI set 30 minutes every morning this month to focus on this challenge. Today, I read through our Slalom.com Sustainability and Impact page and re-read two Slalom stories: Clean Up Australia & Feeding America. When we teach Sales Immersion & Selling the Slalom Way we encourage everyone to learn some stories and have them at the ready to share. I love these feel good stories where we use our skills (often D&A or AI/ML) so that our customers, especially non-profits, can focus on what they do best.
