Colleen Wise 4/30/2023 1:24 PMI’m glad I participated again this year; I learn a lot and develop some good habits. I hope other participants are left with same good feels I am 😊
I’ll be honest though - I look forward to slightly longer showers from time to time 😉 That daily challenge of was tough at times! -
Colleen Wise 4/29/2023 12:35 PMI participated in the Out of the Darkness walk today; what an incredibly moving event. It gave me a lot of hope to see so many involved. -
Colleen Wise 4/28/2023 5:26 PMAnother gorgeous spring day! I just love the smell of fresh cut grass and dogwood trees. The pollen is pretty intense but that’ll pass pretty quickly. Nice weather to end the week 😎 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodAfter learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?
Colleen Wise 4/28/2023 5:23 PMEthical investing is much easier nowadays than it was even a few years ago. Our financial advisor walked us through the process of ensuring that none of our investments were in companies that didn’t align with our values, both here and abroad. As more people embrace ethical investing, the impact will undoubtedly be good for our environment. -
Colleen Wise 4/27/2023 6:36 PMI took a break from a long conference day to attend a baseball game. Our guys played so well! It was great to be outside on a beautiful spring day enjoying the game with colleagues. -
Colleen Wise 4/26/2023 2:28 PMI love this region. I’m partial of course having grown up here. While speaking to folks from out of town at a conference today, it dawned on me just how lucky I am to live in such a vibrant beautiful part of NYS & this country. It’s not the first time I’ve realized this, and certainly won’t be the last! -
Colleen Wise 4/25/2023 8:31 AMI watched the documentary Girl Rising; the obstacles that these girls had to overcome were just heart wrenching. Two things immediately came to mind after viewing this: one is how lucky I truly am to have such a blessed life here in the US (freedom isn't free), and the other thought is that if these nine girls could overcome all that they did, we can certainly come together to save this beautiful earth of ours. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & LivelihoodWhat did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?
Colleen Wise 4/25/2023 8:28 AMI watched Girl Rising, the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face arranged marriages, child slavery and other heartbreaking injustices. The most important thing I learned is that despite these obstacles, these brave girls offer hope and inspiration. By getting an education, they're able to break barriers and create change. This ties into Earth Month in that we too can come together & generate the change that's needed. -
Colleen Wise 4/24/2023 6:30 PMI am really nervous about the world we are leaving our children. With the climate crisis & possible natural resource depletion, I wonder what life will be like in 30 years. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & CommunitiesWhat most interested or surprised you about your energy audit?
Colleen Wise 4/24/2023 6:21 PMFor starters, we need to update our kitchen appliances! We also have some insulation to replace and cracks in the foundation to seal up. We need to tighten up this older home of ours :)
