What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

This was an existing practice for me, so what I learned new during this challenge was the value of incorporating it into my everyday schedule. Sometimes the benefits of meditation aren't obvious, but I know that I have a clearer head and better control over my emotions. I am excited to continue this practice moving forward.

What was the most interesting thing you learned from analyzing your utility bill? What are some ways you can save energy and water?

I have learned since my kids do not live at home; I use much less energy. I have also discovered that by not Turing lights on at night and turning them off when you leave a room it saves electricity and also unplugging appliances and things not being used has saved money.

My next step is to finish installing lightbulbs inside the rest of my house and outside the house. I am also going to talk to others about the lightbulbs.

I was actually thinking about this question on my bike home this morning. I had the thought that the power needed to escort my daughter to school should come from me and not from the earth (i.e. fossil fuel). The distance isn't much, but it felt satisfying to make a small but important contribution.

How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

I am struggling to maintain a good work life balance recently. Work has monopolized my time and I am working to reprioritize to get the balance more in line. When work and life are in balance I am happier and feel more prepared. This makes life more enjoyable and reduces anxiety. When we are happier we are kinder and that kindness is contagious. I think if we have that balance everywhere all people would be kinder and therefore care more about their environment, relationships and everything around them.

I tried tofu for the first time by making tofu tacos. The tofu itself was rather bland but the taco seasonings did okay at covering the taste. The texture wasn't great though. I wasn't able to get the tofu to brown so it was squishy and a little gross. The rest of the taco fixings helped disguise the texture slightly. I'm not sure if I would try it again.

I'm learning so much by watching documentaries online. Given the crisis we're in, it's hard to understand why more people aren't involved...
