I learned a lot about the environment and wish I had done more challenges

Well Team Welly, I managed to do exactly ZERO of my one-time challenges. I killed it at saving water, and I was somewhat mindful. I took a bunch of photos. And I did go for many walks.

I've been KILLING the 5 minute showers, man!

2 rain barrels for watering garden; added more drought tolerant plants; heavy use of mulch. Gardens are looking great :)

I researched about making natural floor polish/cleaner and found this link from Murphy's Oil Soap: https://www.murphyoilsoap.com/hardwood-flooring/how-to-make-hardwood-floors-shine I've steeped my tea, I just need to try it out. Will post after using it...

I took an inventory of our light bulbs on the weekend. I still had a few CFLs and a couple of pot light halogens that we needed to convert to LED. My next step is to measure the lighting in each of our rooms and determine if additional lighting is needed. The County's Home Energy Tool Kits, available through the libraries, has a lux meter and...

Someone posted a note about possible seed-sharing, which I can't seem to find now. It is a great idea - I've done veggie seeds/seedlings on a small scale in the past, but didn't have the time this year. My daughter did more than she needs and will give me some - I'll think about saving seeds for next year. On this topic, Vandana Shiva, based in...

Really interesting interview with a German forestry expert (Peter Wohlleben) who has written a lot about the importance of forests/trees. https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2197302339631 He became known for the book The Hidden LIfe of Trees which I have yet to read bit it's on my list.

Took a 45 minute walk in a different neighbourhood close to mine - really enjoyed looking at the gardens that are coming out of the winter doldrums. Being a long time gardener myself, I've noticed that more and more people are taking an interest.

When I’m cooking, I keep a freezer bag full of vegetable scraps. I freeze them and then when I want to make a soup I boil them down for a while to make a vegetable stock! So much tastier because you can choose what goes into it
