We picked up this butterfly bush in the discount bin and nursed it back to health. It’s visited by lots of pollinators, including our resident Anna’s hummingbird and this pretty swallowtail.

Best quote of the day, “It’s not policies, it’s new pickup trucks in driveways that gets buy in” stated Bret Adee, a bee keeper in the documentary The Pollinators when speaking about farmers embracing eco-friendly agriculture practices.

There’s still hope to not only stop climate change, but reverse it. Now’s the time to focus on drawdown techniques, like forest tenure by indigenous peoples, and regenerative agriculture.

I took the online energy audit offered by my electricity provider. I was surprised that the majority of my energy usage was attributed to “other”. It looks like I’m going to have to perform a more in depth audit to figure out what that other stuff is.

Indigenous peoples have been stewards of the land and practicing sustainability for a long time. We can learn a lot of good practices from these communities.

My whole family enjoyed this Black Bean Quinoa Enchilada Bake from Two Peas in a Pod. The adults also enjoyed white wine spritzers made with mint from the garden. 😁

Here’s an easy recipe for making your own non toxic windshield washer fluid.

    Windshield Washer Fluid
    You will need:
Pour the rubbing alcohol into the empty jug. Fill the jug with water, leaving room for the soap. Slowly add the soap to the jug. Cap the jug and gently tip upside down a few times to mix ingredients. Pour windshield wiper fluid into the correct compartment under your car hood.

I will reduce the amount of single use plastic I consume by asking coffee shops if they can use my reusable thermos instead of getting their disposable cups. I will also reduce the amount of meat I consume. I already try to buy locally produced foods and I take public transportation often.
