I feel really good when I work with others to clean up the community. It's good for the environment and I can notice the positive mental health benefits of it as well.

People end up being unmoored from our natural world seems to be the biggest thing I’ve noticed when we get too much screen time.

“Paying the Price for Peace” basically this guy looses his legs protesting a shipment of American weapons. He laid down on the railroad tracks and the train carrying the weapons was ordered not to stop. The biggest message I took away from this is, with any grassroots effort, spend your energy in a positive way. Know there is a difference between what should pass and what actually will in politics . Model your daily behavior after your ideals but don’t expect the same from everyone else. Don’t expect the train to stop for you

Today was full of SDG actions!
Maxine(the Mountaineers librarian) and I walked (instead of drove) to a protected estuary where we have both done volunteer work. We discussed habitats, picked up some trash, discussed “The Bar Mitzvah and the Beast” drank tea with honey from their hive (their yard is a pollinator paradise) while discussing the future of renewable energy and I left with a new pile of books to read!

Exciting development in the world of vegan grocery shopping! I found yogurt in glass containers instead of plastic! This way until I learn how to make my own yogurt I will be able to use less plastic. I also plan to use the jars to make/house gifts for birthdays and christmas!

Volunteering with an organization called Bark - we were scouting suitable beaver habitat and had to navigate through streams and dense forest scattered with devil's club.
The area we searched didn't end up being suitable, but it definitely was a unique experience.

Why are the beavers in need of a new habitat? They are pretty tenacious and are a good example of the oil and water relationship between what humans want to do with the land and what nature wants. Little devils

Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

My favorite pollinator is the mason bee! I got a bee house a few years ago and yesterday I spent about 10 minutes just watching the mason bees go in and out of the little house. It was magica.

Most memorable was tree planting back in Brooklyn. Went door to door asking people if they would mind the city planting a tree in front of their house, free for them of course. It was great seeing all the new trees planted within a few months of that event. Im thinking the next thing i would like to do is a trail clean up.

Got my bicycle all tuned up yesterday and was able to enjoy the sunshine with a nice little bike ride! I also got up early and rode a little this morning. I'm all ready to replace short car trips with bicycle commuting instead!
