In general, we’ve been trying to eat lower down on the food chain and buy less “throw away” items. With three children it’s been interesting to see how influenced they are by their larger social network, which may lead them to things and actions that have a higher carbon footprint. I am trying to use my influence wisely!

Today I came across these beautiful seedpods developing on a red maple.

One of the new areas I explored recently had blooming serviceberry.

Recently I noticed that the pink flowers of Trailing Arbutus are blooming.

It seems to be the season for yellow flowers. These are yellow wood violets that I found.

I always look forward to seeing Leatherwood blooming each spring. This native deciduous shrub has small trumpet-shaped flowers that attract flower flies and bumble bees.
