I learnt that there are more ways to be eco-conscious than I had initially expected and choosing ones that best take into consideration areas that I would be able to help to my full capabilities.

it was raining a lot today so i didn't get to go far by bike as my bike doesn't handle slippery roads that well, but i was able to take a nice walk around my area and my friends' areas. i explored new shops and roads that i hadn't been down before and even though it was raining, it was honestly so relaxing to walk in the rain. i had some calming music playing and i was listening to the cars splash in the puddles and the rain hit the ground. it was very peaceful and made my day

What did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?

Sadly, I have to admit that I was too ambitious with saying how many documentaries I would watch. I thought I would have time over this weekend to see at least one or two, but that didn't happen. I am planning to watch "Tomorrow", which focuses on renewable energy resources around the world. Then, I would also like to watch "Minimalism: a documentary about important things", which looks at sustainable consumption and how it can still be beneficial economically.

How did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?

Using The entire types of foods that include utilizing the skins was highly beneficial in terms of receiving high amounts of nutrients which are found in some skins of vegetables and other food group. There was also a high benefit in lower waste consumption which made groceries cheaper due to not frequently purchasing more.

We should do Earth year instead of Earth month.

Every day is Earth Day! If people were just as mindful and caring about their sustainable habits, as they are during April---surely it can be done all year round. That is what the Eco Challenge hopes that participants will see. We need to encourage others to realize the value of Mother Nature. We'd all stick around longer if we did!

I'm going to do a roadtrip to the Maritimes in an EV this summer. I have travelled to Africa, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and honestly, we have the same landscapes here in Canada, so to sometimes I ask myself why I have to get on a plane??

What petition did you choose? Were you successful in gathering many signatures? How did you feel sending it to an elective representative?

So I didn't actually write a petition myself, but I've asked 70 students to do so, and I'm impressed at what they've come up with - very cool initiatives for climate action. They will go out to elected officials (and a couple of JAC staff...) over the next week...

I watched some documentaries about doing citizen science by using iNaturalist to identify species. We're going to do a bioblitz on campus tomorrow, so I was reminding myself how to use the app and getting more familiar with the way everything works. Good reminder of how citizen scientists can really help ecologists gather tons of data on populations of many species, which helps them keep track of numbers, migration, mating, etc.
